Akim's Day of Rescue
My name is Akim. A poacher killed my mother and captured me when I was a tiny baby. For a long time, I was locked in a 3’x3’ box, where I learned to turn flips in the air and land on my feet like a gymnast because it was the only way I could move. I was often left alone for days, and I got so thirsty and hungry.
Finally, when I was seven years old, I was rescued and brought to live at Sanaga-Yong Chimpanzee Rescue Center, where I’m eating well and playing and learning what it really means to be a chimpanzee!
Please donate to In Defense of Animals to help me and other chimpanzees who need rescue. Your gift will be matched.
