Dog Rescued from a Meat Farm is All Smiles Now, But He’s Still Waiting for a Forever Home

It wasn’t always all smiles for Pluto, who was rescued from deplorable conditions at a dog meat farm in South Korea in 2023, but he’s made amazing progress despite his traumatic past, and we hope to find him a home for the holidays.

Pluto was among 26 dogs who we rescued with our partner Jindo Love Rescue from the Miryang dog meat farm, where they were being kept in heartbreaking conditions and destined for cruel deaths. The majority of them have since been adopted, but despite the sparkle in his eye and sweet smiles, Pluto’s still waiting to be adopted.

We know Pluto is still carrying scary memories of his past, but he’s overcome so much and has grown his relationship with our foster mom and some of our volunteers. He’s still very shy, but he does show off his joy and charm. Seriously, just look at that face.

He loves to boop people’s hands — we think that’s his way of saying he’d like to be friends — and we know he’ll thrive with adopters who will be patient with him and give him the time he needs to feel brave and let his loving personality and zest for life shine.

We will require whoever adopts him to have another dog in the home. Pluto relies on dogs more than people and follows their lead. He’s relied on the dogs at our foster center to help guide him, and watches them go up to people before he feels safe enough to approach them, too. Having another dog will help him feel secure and build his confidence as he adjusts to his new life and all the adventures that await him.

He’s one of our favorites, and we know he’ll form an unbreakable, once-in-a-lifetime bond with whoever is lucky enough to welcome him into their home.

How to Adopt

If you’re interested in adopting Pluto, you can learn more about adopting and send Jindo Love Rescue a message on Facebook to start the application process.

Even if you can’t adopt, you can still help by sharing this story and supporting our ongoing rescue efforts in South Korea by making a donation and spreading the word about our ongoing need for flight volunteers to courier dogs to new homes.
