Spay/Neuter Efforts are Central to Helping Animals in India

Homeless animals in India don’t have an easy life, but our partner IDA India offers a lifeline to them when they need care and is always busy working to prevent this problem through its Animal Birth Control program.

A lack of spay/neuter programs leads to myriad problems that come with an overpopulation of unwanted animals that range from issues for animals themselves to increased cruelty cases and verbal and physical attacks on members of the community trying to help.

Mother dogs, who go through a lot during pregnancy, are often vilified leading to false complaints about them to get them removed, while their puppies are often left vulnerable when moms go to search for food.

While there’s an unfortunate lack of awareness about this issue, IDA India’s Animal Birth Control (ABC) program is vital to preventing the suffering of animals. Last year alone, across our four centers in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Panvel, and Lonavala we spayed and neutered 6,924 dogs and 2,598 cats — and we’ve provided surgeries for hundreds more already this year.

Thanks to generous supporters, we’re able to provide everything from vaccinations and life-saving surgeries to spaying and neutering through our ABC program at very low cost or free to ensure animals get the help they need.

We hope to keep going strong and aiding as many animals as possible this year, but we can’t do it without your support. You can help provide a lifeline for these animals and support our work in India by making a donation.
