The grand opening ribbons had barely been cut at our renovated Hope Animal Sanctuary in Mississippi, when the distress calls started coming in. One of the things that always gets us in these stories and photos, is that we have to document what happened - at the very moment when we just want to scoop each friend into our arms and erase all the hurt.

Andy the Abandoned Great Dane…

Poor Andy.  When the Sheriff’s Department found him, he’d just been forsaken.  Left behind.  He’s bone-skinny.  He also has a severe ear infection, awful mange, internal parasites, and heartworm.  More than that, he just looks so sad.  How could we ever say no? Needless to say, we scooped Andy up, gently, and whisked him overto our Hope Animal Sanctuary.

Like so many of the injured, abused animals who come to Hope Animal Sanctuary, Andy will require lots of love and kindness. We are optimistic that he will make a full recovery and will one day find his new forever home and that he will never be unlucky enough to be left on the side of the road again.

One such thing is special beds for our new Tiny Group Houses where dogs and cats will live in comfort until their new families come along. Recovery cages for our medical/quarantine room, and a “dream wish” of state of the art spay/neuter surgical suite are also on the list.
