Meet the Cats of Freedom Farms

Meet the Cats of Freedom Farms

“CAUTION: Cats at Play.” If you visit the main house at Freedom Farms, this is one of the first signs you’ll see. While the farm is home to cows, peacocks, a horse, a donkey, and plenty of wild animals, the cats of Freedom Farms enjoy true VIP status. They not only bring charm and personality to the property, but they also play an essential role in ethical, natural mouse abatement.

The Legacy of Freedom Farms Cats

It all began with two striking black cats with piercing green eyes: Cleopatra and Spooky. Cleopatra, soft-footed and serene, spent her entire life at Freedom Farms and lived to the remarkable age of 20.

Spooky, on the other hand, ran the place. Extroverted and tough, she greeted every visitor, kept the other cats in line, and survived encounters with an owl, a bobcat, and a mountain lion.

Her sister Luna, with her regal posture and distinctive chest markings, welcomed every person who stepped onto the property with warmth and poise.

Then came Shadow. With her bright white coat and fearless spirit, she stood out immediately. She arrived as a stray, malnourished and suffering from mange, but over time, the team at Freedom Farms nursed her back to full health and helped soften her once-defensive demeanor.

Today’s Freedom Farms Cats

Whiskey, a black-and-white cat with a wise, discerning expression, now patrols the grounds. He keeps mostly to the perimeter, appearing near the house only to update the others on any predator activity.

Nala and Willow, two striped gray adventurers, also roam the outer areas of the farm. They love playing tag in the old chicken enclosure and basking under Creston’s endless sunshine.

From time to time, they visit Tiger Lily and Le Tigre — a playful duo fond of hide-and-seek in the woodworking shop and Hollywood-style studio on the property.

And then there's Miss Mittens, Salvador, Marvin, and Fish — the indoor crew who keep the homes at Freedom Farms mouse-free while enjoying the good life in the heart of California’s Central Coast.

Together, these felines infuse Freedom Farms with a vibrant spirit that has shaped the property for decades.
