Hi, my name is Opal and this is my dad, Oren. I was just a tiny baby when I was abandoned and left in the parking lot of a Mississippi store. For a week I tried to talk to people to let them know I was here and that I needed food, but they just pushed me out of their way. I was so hungry and afraid. I thought that I must have been very bad to be treated so horribly. Then, I got incredibly lucky. A woman who works for In Defense of Animals saved me. Without her, I don’t know what would have happened to me. She took me to IDA’s Hope Animal Sanctuary where I was fed and kept warm. This was so much better than the life I thought I was going to have at the store parking lot. After a few months at Hope Animal Sanctuary I went home with a nice man who also works for IDA’s sanctuary as their maintenance man. Now I’m a spoiled princess who loves to sit close while my Dad reads the paper. We’re the best pals ever!
