As we begin a brand new year here at In Defense of Animals, we’ve looked back at our successes and now look forward to the challenges ahead. They are many and formidable, but we are determined to continue to defend the animals of our world. We are all in this together and can never doubt the power of each individual and each choice.This is truly exemplified by Hott Spott, a small coffee shop in Mytilene, Greece. It is here, on an island that has known struggle and become host to a large number of refugees, that one small company decided to make a difference where it could. Hott Spott not only serves the people of Lesbos, but also opens its doors and hearts to the many street dogs in their community. These dogs, at one time enduring the elements each night,are now enjoying a warm, safe space and a comfy place on the café couches.As Hott Spot has shown us, we all have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of animals each day.
