In Defense of Animals Offers $500 Reward in Dog Cruelty Case

Leflore County Dog Discovered With Life-Threatening Embedded Collar

Grenada, Miss. (January 26, 2015) – In Defense of Animals (IDA), the international animal protection organization that operates Hope Animal Sanctuary (HAS) in Grenada, Mississippi, is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the criminal neglect of a dog found wandering with a horribly embedded collar in Leflore County, Mississippi.

Hope Animal Sanctuary investigators are aiding the Leflore County Humane Society in gathering evidence for the prosecution of the person(s) who collared a dog, neglecting over time to resize the collar as the dog grew. The dog, now named Angel, was found on January 16 wandering on Grenada Boulevard in Greenwood, Mississippi with a near-fatal severely embedded collar – so bad in fact, that her neck was deeply cut into and her head had begun to swell.

Leflore County Humane Society Shelter Director Debbie Clark reported, ”We’re hopeful for a full recovery for Angel. She’s a very friendly and beautiful dog.” She added, “I never get over the shock of seeing the damage caused by people neglecting the basic duties of caring for animals they keep.”

Angel will need a loving guardian to adopt her when she recovers from her injury.

Anyone with information about the person(s) responsible for the criminal neglect Angel suffered is asked to contact Hope Animal Sanctuary by calling or texting Director Doll Stanley at (662) 809-4483 or Operations Manager Sharon Stone at (662) 466-0906.
