WATCH: Fur Free Friday Protests Target Louis Vuitton

Activists gathered across the globe on Fur Free Friday to demand an end to the fur trade, sending a clear message that real animal fur has no place in fashion. From Oregon to Pennsylvania, supporters came together to stand up for animals and shine a spotlight on luxury brands still profiting from this cruelty.

In Los Angeles, demonstrators rallied outside the Louis Vuitton flagship store in Beverly Hills, calling out the brand for continuing to sell mink, fox, and raccoon dog fur. Activists engaged shoppers and passersby directly outside the store, amplifying their message during one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year.

In Pittsburgh, activists took their action a step further, marching into the store in front of customers and sales staff to disrupt business as usual and make a bold statement against the ongoing exploitation of animals.

The fur industry inflicts immense suffering on animals who are raised and killed for their fur. Animals such as foxes, minks, and raccoon dogs are confined to tiny cages, deprived of natural behaviors, and killed in violent and inhumane ways for their pelts. Wild animals who are trapped for fur endure agonizing pain in leghold traps and other devices before being killed. Fur is unnecessary, cruel, and entirely incompatible with modern, ethical fashion.

The Los Angeles protest drew attention to the city’s influence on global style trends, reinforcing that fur is no longer acceptable.

Adding to fur’s decline in popularity, this year also brought a major victory for animals internationally. Poland officially banned fur farming, cutting off one of the world’s largest fur supplies and marking a huge step toward a fur-free future. This milestone demonstrates that change is possible when activists, consumers, and ethical fashion leaders unite to stand against cruelty.

While fur is increasingly falling out of favor, Louis Vuitton continues to sell real mink, fox, and raccoon dog fur. It’s time to turn up the pressure. You can help by asking Louis Vuitton to stop selling fur, learning more about the fur trade, or donating to support our work. Together, we can ensure a world where no animals are killed for fashion.
