Brutal Memphis Bridge Dog Killer Identified & Arrested

Brutal Memphis Bridge Dog Killer Identified & Arrested

This alert is no longer active, but here for reference. Animals still need your help.

We are seeking the vigorous prosecution of the alleged sociopath, Christopher L. Triplett, who unconscionably plunged a defenseless dog off the South Lauderdale Bridge in Memphis, Tennessee, not just once, but twice upon seeing that she hadn't died the first time! Join us in seeking the maximum sentencing a brutalizer may get for aggravated animal cruelty.

It is questionable why it took six days before Memphis Animal Control removed this precious dog's body. What is known, however, is that videos from local businesses' security cameras that we received through a Memphis associate were given to investigators of the Memphis Police Department on March 3, 2025. The videos and a statement from a compassionate local workman led to the arrest of Christopher L. Triplett.

A warrant for Triplett was issued on March 9, 2025, he was identified as one of six persons in a lineup, and it was reported that he confessed to the heinous crime.

In Defense of Animals

On March 10, the affidavit charging him with aggravated animal cruelty read that on or about February 28, 2025, Triplett forced a dog to walk on her back feet as he lifted and dragged her by the collar from the apartment complex where he resided with his mother to the bridge.

At the bridge, he senselessly beat her, lifted her, and plunged her over the guardrail. Seeing her still alive, he went down below the bridge, grabbed her as she tried to escape, walked back up, and threw her head first to her merciless death.

Now he is on the docket for a March 27, 2025 hearing.

Judge Karen L. Massey slapped a $100,000 bond on Triplett. Two days later in a bond review hearing, Triplett's defense argued that the crime he was charged with is a Class D felony, not a Class E, thus making the bond excessive. Judge Massey reluctantly reduced his bond to $10,000 and the animal abuser bonded out.

In court, Triplett's mother said she had not known what he would do. She had irresponsibly told him to get the dog out of the apartment for misbehavior, illustrating a clear example of someone who shouldn't be trusted with animals because of her callous attitude. Judge Massey ordered her son to complete his GED and to attend an MTR program intended to ingrain compassion as a condition of his bond.

There is no adjective to label a human who can premeditate the malicious killing of a trusting animal. The Shelby County District Attorney, Steve Mulroy, is known for taking aggravated cruelty seriously and previously cooperated with In Defense of Animals during the Riona trial.

Letter to Decision Maker(s) for reference:

Subject: Seeking Justice for Dog Brutally Beaten & Thrown from Bridge

I am writing to you knowing your compassion for animals and asking for you to support the maximum prosecution of Christopher L. Triplett for brutally dragging, cruelly beating, and heartlessly throwing his dog off the South Lauderdale Bridge - twice - until she died from her injuries!

I am aware that you were present at Triplett’s bond review and am confident that whichever ADA handles his case you will stay involved. Please see that my letter supporting the maximum sentencing of Triplett is presented to the presiding judge during the sentencing phase of his trial. Please ensure he spends the maximum allowed time in prison, is forced to pay the most allowed fines and fees, is given a mental evaluation and treatment, and is barred from interacting with animals ever again.

I will be following this case to its fruition and am looking forward to seeing justice served. Thank you once again for your unwavering compassion.

Sincerely,

Signed
