39 Days of Rescue - Sadie
I’m Sadie!
Not that long ago, I was all alone, hungry, and very pregnant. I was walking alone on a hot asphalt road looking for whatever kindness I could find. Finally, I saw a house where I hoped to find some food but the woman who lived there said to go away. I was too tired and hot to leave so I just waited until she went inside and then hid under the porch steps where I rested and slept. I stayed right there under those steps for a few days until my babies were born.
The woman, who had at first told me to go away, found some kindness in her heart and gave me some food. It sure was good to finally have something to eat. The very next day four people came to visit who said that they were from In Defense of Animals. I came out barking and growling because they were getting close to my babies and I was afraid for them.
One of the people knelt down and spoke softly to me and somehow I knew they were there to help. I crawled over to one of the women, and she gave me a good belly rub, led me away, and waited with me while the people began to gather up my newborn babies. One by one, they gently brought out each new puppy from under the steps until all ten of them were safe with me. When my babies are grown and ready, they will be placed into loving forever homes where they’ll never know about the hunger and neglect that we all escaped. I’m even told that after spay surgery I’ll be placed in a new home with a forever family as well. Please donate today to In Defense of Animals and help them to save other moms like me!
